Have you ever held down two full-time jobs? That’s what it felt like for me when I was hosting Overhaulin’ at the same time as managing my shop.
It was a never-ending whirlwind of projects, cars, people, and sleepless nights—but I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world.
Don’t get me wrong. I love being in the shop, and with Overhaulin’, what most people don’t know is that I was running back and forth between the secret location where we filmed the show and my own headquarters. Sometimes it was to machine a part using tools I didn’t have access to on the set. Other times it was to keep the wheels from flying off on the projects and customer cars I had going on back home. It was a necessary step to keep the show separate from my “real life” work at the shop, so that it didn’t impact my business. But it made for a crazy schedule that sometimes had the team working two or three days straight.
