BASF’s Glasurit® 90 Line featured on the 2015 Ridler Award winning ’65 Chevy Impala
SOUTHFIELD, MI, March 13, 2015 — BASF Automotive Refinish Solutions is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2015 Ridler Award – the 1965 Chevy Impala Impostor created by Chip Foose – features BASF Glasurit® 90 Line paint.
The Ridler, one of the custom car industry’s most prestigious awards, was presented to the proud owners, Don and Elma Voth of Canada, at the Detroit Autorama on March 8. The Impostor is a fascinating blend of a gallant city cruiser and a sporty muscle car. To achieve this unique look the Impala body was dropped onto a modern Corvette chassis. The vehicle also features triple, twin round taillights, metal closeouts around the inner fender wheel wells and a new 2-seat interior that was clay modeled around the existing dash. The car’s unique color, called Impostor Pearl Dark and Impostor Pearl light, was specifically customized by Chip Foose.

Paint from BASF has been featured on several recent Ridler Award winners. The crowning of the Foose-built 1965 Chevy Impala marks the seventh time a winner was painted with the company’s Glasurit® line. In 2014, BASF’s R-M® Onyx HD was featured on the winning 1964 Buick Riviera designed by JF Launier of JF Kustoms.
BASF served as the silver sponsor of this year’s Ridler Ball at the Detroit Autorama. Held annually, Autorama is the largest indoor custom car show in the United States. The Ridler award has been given out to the best new creations since 1964 to honor the memory of Don Ridler, who started promoting Autorama in the 1950s. Cars must make their public debut at the show in order to be eligible.
