SEMA SHOW - CHIP'S DAY 4 RECAP
November 9, 2013
Friday, our final day at SEMA for 2013. The week went by so fast, it felt like one long day. Today was a light day, I had an autograph session in the Lincoln Electric booth (exclusive welding equipment of Foose) and then an afternoon autograph session at the Foose Experience Tour tractor trailer. In the morning I also met international guests from various 3M headquarters all over the world.
I really enjoy attending this show every year, I've been coming for nearly 30 years now. The sheer number of space and vehicles is overwhelming. It can be a little disorienting, but there is always so much great stuff to see. I can't wait until next year when we get to do it all over again.
Well I'm off back home to the Foose shop. We're getting very close to paint on the Impostor and we've got more Overhaulin' episodes to shoot.
I hope you were able to attend and enjoy the show. If not, please take a look at our SEMA facebook photo album
to see what you may have missed.
See you next year!
SEMA SHOW - CHIP'S DAY 3 RECAP
November 8, 2013
Back again at the SEMA show on Thursday, it was a day of autograph sessions. I always love to meet people and it's still a little weird to think people want my autograph. My only regret is I don't have enough time to sign an autograph or draw a picture for everyone who wants one.
The signing began at the WD-40 booth in the morning, then continued to the BASF booth next. After that we had our first autograph signing at the new Foose Experience Tour booth. The reaction to the rig was very positive. We'll have the trailer on the road all year, we've got more events coming. So, if you weren't able to make it out to Vegas for SEMA, we might just be in your town soon! Our next two stops after this are Scottsdale and Del Mar for the Goodguys shows.
Around 2:30pm I sat down with Barry Meguiar at the Car Crazy Stage. We filmed a quick interview, talked about Overhaulin', the Foose Experience Tour and cars. I always love spending time with Barry, he is a wonderful ambassador for our industry.
After a Pirelli autograph session I went to my room and got ready for the SEMA banquet dinner. I helped present the Gen 3 Innovator Award and got to spend time with many of my friends from the industry.
SEMA SHOW - CHIP'S DAY 2 RECAP
November 7, 2013
Had a good night's rest Tuesday and kicked off Wednesday with a nice autograph session at the Pirelli booth (#41031). Always love seeing their booth and looking at all the beautiful vehicles they have on display, and of course the beautiful Pirelli girls. Pirelli is the exclusive tire of Foose and we're proud to continue to represent them. Immediately after I headed to the Foose Experience Tour rig to do a meet 'n greet with the winners of the 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division SEMA contest. I hope they enjoyed the time we spent together, I'm always happy to meet those who are passionate about automotive culture. Next was something a little different, an event I haven't participated in before. Velocity held a panel discussion in the LVH ballroom with myself and the many stars of Velocity, including Chris Jacobs, Jessi Combs and Mike and Edd from Wheeler Dealers. I had a good time, we had a moderated Q&A session with fans and saw several first-look clips.
We were cutting it pretty close getting back outside to the 3M booth, but we made it and I did a fun sanding competition with the fans. Greg Biffle even stopped by to compete. Finally we were off to the Magnaflow booth inside the Central Hall. The exclusive exhaust of Foose, we always do an autograph and video session with them in their great booth. Later that night I attended the Magnaflow dinner, had a great time and got to hang out with some wonderful people.
SEMA SHOW - CHIP'S DAY 1 RECAP
November 6, 2013
It's always great to be back at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Everyone in the industry is here and I get the chance to see so many longtime friends and people I've worked with over the years, it's really more like a family reunion.
I got in Monday morning after attending the NASCAR race in Texas over the weekend where I watched the Greg Biffle #16 car run a paint scheme I designed for the 3M Hire Our Heroes program. Usually we have a booth outside that I help set up, but this year we have something better. Making its industry debut is the Foose Experience Tour, a tractor trailer that is scheduled to make 30-40 annual stops at select automotive events across the nation. The Hemisfear and P-32 are on display in front of the rig and we've got a ton of exclusive apparel and merchandise for sale. We ran a soft launch in Charlotte last week to prep for the big kick-off and I am so happy to be expanding our presence and showing our fans our work. I've also got my custom Taco 22 mini-bike on display at the rig that I built with my son Brock, a personal project from passion. We're right out in front of Central Hall in the Silver Lot, booth #61018, so if you didn't make it by today, please be sure to check it out before you leave the show.
We kicked off the morning on Tuesday with an autograph session at the BASF booth, our longtime paint sponsor. Magnatude, a 1932 Muroc Roadster that we built for Jerry Magnuson, is on display in their booth (#21441). Next we moved outside to the 3M Booth (#61167) where I gave a product demonstration on the HG14 spray gun, truly a great product. Be sure to check out their schedule this week as they have a number of 3M product demos by industry professionals, including Mark Oja from Overhaulin', Charley Hutton and Rich Evans. After that I moved on to the WD-40 / SEMA Cares Foose F-150 reveal in the Grand Lobby of the Central Hall. This year I designed the look and SEMA Garage took care of the build. Instead of being auctioned like previous WD-40/SEMA Cares vehicles, the truck will be raffled off to one lucky winner in early May 2014, with raffle tickets only costing $50. Following the unveil we headed over for an autograph session in the WD-40 booth. To end the night, I attended the Velocity cocktail party at their booth. This is the second year they've thrown this party and it's a great event. You get to spend time with the Discovery executives and share stories with the talent from the various Velocity television series.
Off to bed now, I've got another full day tomorrow. Be sure to check out our facebook SEMA photo album
for pics from the day's events.

3M #16 NASCAR FEATURES CHIP FOOSE PAINT SCHEME NOV. 3
November 1, 2013
This Sunday, November 3rd, the Greg Biffle #16 Ford Fusion running at the AAA Texas 500 NASCAR race will feature a custom paint scheme designed by Chip Foose. A long time sponsor of both Chip Foose and Greg Biffle, 3M asked Chip to develop the unique graphics which are intended to honor veterans recognized through the 3M Hire Our Heroes program. The car’s hood design reflects the respect of the saluting soldier flanked by the stars and stripes, with the stripes down the side creating a fast, sleek look for the car.
The 3M Hire Our Heroes campaign is supporting the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in raising awareness for hiring America’s heroes and helping drive employment in the collision repair industry for these deserving veterans and their families. 3M Collision recognizes the need for qualified technicians in the collision repair industry and is helping returning veterans and their families that have chosen to pursue careers in the collision repair industry. The 3M Hire Our Heroes campaign raised funds throughout the year to help offset the costs of tuition, books, tools and equipment for returning veterans and their families and has also has donated some $250,000 to benefit returning veterans and their families. Through the 3M Hire Our Heroes program, nearly 60 grant winners, including military members and family members of veterans, were selected from applicants all across the United States. Each recipient received a financial grant to purchase tools and equipment needed to start their career in collision repair.
As part of the 3M Hire Our Heroes campaign, a number of the nation’s military veterans who work in auto body repair shops and their shop owners who nominated them are headed to the November NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in Texas. The winning military veterans will have an opportunity to experience the pre-race ceremonies from pit road. Chip Foose will also be in attendance at the race in support of the team.
To watch the vehicle in action, be sure to tune in to ESPN at 3pm EST for the AAA Texas 500.
