Many long hours were spent working and refining the Eldorod, but it was all more than worth it once this beauty was completed.  It had been a long time coming to get this hot rod to its final stage.  This ride was based on a 1948 Cadillac Eldorado and was the very first car Chip designed at Hot Rods by Boyd's when he worked there full time as Chief Designer in the 90's. It was also the last car to be produced by Boyd's before it went bankrupt in '98. The new owner, Chris Andrews, got in touch with Chip to make those subtle changes to the vehicle design Chip had always wanted to do, but were never incorporated into the final design. Chip found the original sketch of the vehicle before certain changes were made to it at Boyd's.  Chip always wanted the Eldorod to be blue, but it wasn't until this year that he got to see his vision become a reality.

The unveiling occurred at the 2012 SEMA show at the BASF booth.  There was still so much to get done a few weeks prior that the team had to work overtime at the shop.  It was a close call but they got the Eldorod completed on time.  Chip made some important changes like redesigning the front and rear bumpers as well as the roof.  He thought the chrome trim he added to the roofline really made the car.  Additionally, a new grill and grill insert were added to this ride as well as the recut wheels.  The white wall was painted as part of the rims giving it more of a vintage look.  The interior is a smooth  tan leather that is a beautiful contrast with the stunning blue paint Chip chose for the exterior. Overall, this hot rod could not have
turned out any better.

This Eldorod won the prestigious GM award for the 2012 Best of Show Vehicle at SEMA.  Chip proudly displayed this trophy on the center console of the winning ride at the BASF booth for everyone to see as they toured around during the show.  Anyone who just gets one glimpse of this ride can immediately see how special it really is and this award was just the icing on the cake.
