2017 SEMA SHOW PREVIEW
October 28, 2017
It’s time once again for the biggest automotive aftermarket event of the year, the annual SEMA show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The show takes over the town and runs from Tuesday, October 31st to Friday, November 3rd.
This 2017 edition of SEMA will feature two highly anticipated Foose Design vehicle unveils. Kicking off the start of the convention at 9am sharp on Tuesday (right as the doors open) is the unveil of Chip’s personal 1932 Ford 5-window coupe. This uncut, original Henry Ford steel body received a subtle hot rod makeover. It features an original flathead with Navarro heads that was reworked by H&H Flatheads and includes a vintage Italmeccanica blower and Stromberg carbs. One-off Halibrand inspired wheels have been machined, shot-penned and mounted on vintage tires. Chip has fabricated custom, equal length headers with integrated crossover to support the Magnaflow exhaust. Thus, its only appropriate that we debut this beauty in the Magnaflow booth (#23252)!
Next, we’ll be heading over to the BASF Automotive Refinish booth (#20353) to have an autograph session, followed by the unveil of a custom 1971 Mustang Mach1 that we’ve affectionately dubbed MachFoose. We’ve swapped the body onto a 2010 Mustang GT, extended the wheelbase 5" and replaced the quarters with those from a '70 Mustang. Additional modifications include custom grille, custom interior and Camaro inspired rear taillights. One-off Shelby inspired wheels are wrapped in Pirelli tires. A custom Foose paint mix of Glasurit 90-Line features rally stripes that run the length of the vehicle, around the rear end and back down the side. MachFoose will be one of the highlighted vehicles on display in the BASF booth, an incredible honor.
The end of the first night of SEMA brings Halloween, but while others will be enjoying the holiday, Chip will be walking the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center with the BASF team to judge the Glasurit Best Paint Award. Now in its third year, Chip will select the best painted vehicle featuring either 22, 55 or 90 line Glasurit products. Past winners include Goolsby Customs and Andy Leach. Return to the BASF booth Thursday at 9am as we announce the 2017 winner.
Day two, Wednesday, November 1st, kicks off with a blast to the past. Chip Foose, Chris Jacobs and a few surprise guests will be appearing at the Velocity stage in front of Central Hall at 9:45am for an Overhaulin’ reunion! The hour long event will include behind the scenes details, a panel discussion and a lot of great memories. The day rounds out with public autograph appearances with Pirelli Tires and Magnaflow Exhaust.
Thursday offers fans more opportunities to catch Chip for autograph sessions at the inside 3M booth (#12145) and SEMA Launchpad (#51145), as well as after the aforementioned BASF Glasurit Best Paint award presentation. He’ll end the day with an autograph session at the Foose merchandise trailer which is docked at SEMA all week long in the Silver Lot (#61000). The custom wrapped rig will offer custom apparel, rendering prints, hats, posters and more available for purchase. On Friday we’ll move the trailer from the Silver Lot location over to the Gold Lot in anticipation of the SEMA Ignited event that begins at 3pm that night.
On Friday you’ll have one last chance to get an autograph from Chip before SEMA Ignited at the Lincoln Electric booth (#24659) starting at noon. Chip and the Foose team will be at the SEMA Ignited event all night long, signing autographs and offering product for purchase. Some of the Foose vehicles might just make an appearance!
We’re all looking forward to another great week and hope that we will see you there!
